My third consecutive stay at Villa Ella, it now feels like my Greek home away from home. The garden and the sound of the cicadas and my 'greek family' welcome me and I am instantly relaxed.... and know that I am exactly where I need to be. See you again with my next yoga group who I can share this special island and family home with....what a lovely thought leaving knowing it is not good-bye but "see you soon." I've stayed at Villa Ella twice (in 2007 and 2019) and simply love it! It's so conveniently located for a walk down to the beech for a quick swim or an evening meal in the Old Harbour. I've stayed at Villa Ella twice (in 2007 and 2019) and simply love it! It's so conveniently located for a walk down to the beech for a quick swim or an evening meal in the Old Harbour. It's also on the bus route so you really don't need a car, although we did find it useful for shopping and the occasional foray to the other (less populated) side of the island. The villa itself is an oasis of greenery, shade and the seductive smells of roses, fresh herbs and honeysuckle dotted around the lush garden. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, with the basics you need in a self-catering establishment. We chose to buy yoghurt, honey and fruit for breakfast and then eat lovely Greek salads or venture out in time for sunset dinners with a sea view. Thesaloniki restaurant, set on the beach below Villa Ella, is just a few minutes walk away and serves traditional Greek fare. It became a firm favourite but there are endless options at the Old Harbour too.
